MK Sharma retired in May 2007 as the Vice Chairman of Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) after serving 33 years. During his tenure in HUL, he worked on corporate restructuring of Unilever Group in India, which culminated in creation of One Unilever Corporate structure. He played an active role in M&A activities.

Mr Sharma has served as a member of the Corporate Law Committee to comprehensively redraft the Companies Act. He also served as a member of the Naresh Chandra Committee on Corporate Governance. He serves on the Board of several companies.

Mr Sharma is also on the Board of Governors of the Anglo Scottish Education Society which runs and manages the Cathedral & John Connon School in Mumbai.
